WING CHUN KUEN, A CHINESE MARTIAL ART, utilizes independent and partner exercises to convey its essential principles, methods, and techniques while developing within its practitioners balance and stability, whole-body coordination, and efficient use of strength. Disciplined and consistent practice will improve one’s health, self-confidence, and proficiency within the art.

MEMBERS’ GROUP CLASSES provide instruction in the traditional Wing Chun Kuen exercises. Members work and learn together, sharing ideas and discoveries, developing understanding and skill within a cooperative environment.

MEMBERS WILL LEARN the independent exercises Siu Nim Tau, Cham Kiu, Biu Ji, and Hung Jong and partner exercises Paak Sau, Laap Sau, Man Sau, Saan Sau, Chi Sau, and Chi Geurk. More advanced students will be invited to learn the Wing Chun Kuen implements Muk Yan Jong, Luk Dim Bun Gwan and Baat Jaam Dou, in a private one-on-one or small-group setting. Additionally, students will be introduced to Chinese history, philosophy, and classical Chinese medicine.

THE SAN DIEGO WING CHUN KUEN MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL welcomes women and men of all ages 12 years and older. No prior experience with martial arts or Wing Chun Kuen is required.

PARTICIPATION and SCHOOL MEMBERSHIP is subject to an instructor’s approval and adherence to the instructors’ expectations and those expectation listed below. Participants 12 to 17 years of age must have received, before their participation, the consent and approval of a parent or guardian.

EXPECTATIONS

Be consistent in attendance.
Arrive to scheduled classes and training sessions on time, or offer advance notice of late arrivals or absences.
Arrive to classes and training sessions sober, not under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or any other mind or performance altering substance.
Be humble, respectful, and kind.
Be attentive and cooperative.
Be diligent in practice.
Practice what is taught, develop the fundamental Wing Chun Kuen skills.
Study the Wing Chun Proverbs.

PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS may schedule one free class observation. At the end of that class, an instructor will remain available for conversation and answering questions. Completing a class observation is recommended but not required for school membership. To schedule a class observation, please email your request to the address listed below.

MEMBERSHIP and TUITION FEES

Group-class membership: $100 per month, due within the first week of each month, includes any or all scheduled group classes.

Add family to your membership. Your spouse, parents, children or siblings may be added to your monthly membership for $50 per month per individual.

Refer a friend! After they join, you and your friend will both receive a $50 credit toward group-class membership.

If unable to commit to monthly membership, you may attend any scheduled group class for $20 per class. Your family may join you for $10 per individual per class.

PRIVATE CLASSES

Any lesson within the Wing Chun Kuen curriculum may be learned or reviewed within a private one-on-one or private group setting. The length of a private class varies between one and two hours depending on the material being presented. Private classes are by appointment, at a location to be determined.

PRIVATE CLASS FEES

Private one-on-one class: $100 per class. Schedule 4 private classes and receive $100 credit toward group-class membership including any or all scheduled group classes.

Private one-on-one class (new private students and current group-class members): $50 per class. If you’re new to San Diego Wing Chun Kuen, private classes are $50 per class for those classes scheduled within the first 3 months of your first class. Private classes are always $50 per class for current group-class members.

Private group class: $150 + $25 per participant.

To schedule a private class, please email your request to the address listed below. Full payment is required to reserve a private class appointment. Payment is non-refundable. However, if needed, you may reschedule your appointment once. If you need to reschedule an appointment, please provide 24-hours notice to avoid a $25 rescheduling fee.

OUR WING CHUN KUEN FAMILY

Nathan is a disciple of Rene Ng, Macau, China. Sifu Ng is a disciple of master Ho Kam Ming, who is a disciple of the late Wing Chun Kuen master, Yip Man. Nathan preserves the principles, methods, and techniques he received presenting Ho Kam Ming family Wing Chun Kuen to groups and individuals.

NATHAN HART, instructor at the San Diego Wing Chun Kuen Martial Arts School, has a background in science and engineering, eastern philosophy and traditional medicines. He studied structural engineering, graduating from the University of Illinois. After a number of years working as an engineer, he returned to college to study Chinese medicine, graduating from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
